Lawrence Catletti, Captain
Lawrence Catletti is a 24 year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Lawrence grew up in Orange County New York. He is an alumnus of Monroe-Woodbury High School and attended Orange County Community College and St. Thomas Aquinas College. In 1992 he was hired as a Part-Time Deputy Sheriff working as a Communications Officer and in the Identification Unit. In June of 1994 he was hired as a Correction Officer. During his tenure as a Correction Officer he graduated from The New York State Basic Corrections Academy in 1994 and the Orange County Police Academy in 1995. In 1995 he became a member of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team. In addition to his responsibilities and duties at the Sheriff’s Office he was also a Police Officer for the Village of Montgomery and Town of Wallkill Police Departments. Lawrence was promoted to Sergeant in 2000 after taking a promotional exam and worked in this capacity for 12 years. In 2005, Lawrence was appointed as the Training Unit Supervisor for the Corrections Division. During this time, Lawrence was appointed as part of the accreditation team which achieved the New York State Sheriff’s Accreditation in County Jails and American Correctional Association in County jails. Lawrence also served on committees with the Division of Criminal Justice Service for lesson plan development and revision relating to Corrections. He maintained these assignments until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2012. Lawrence was promoted to Captain in 2016. During his 24 years at the Sheriff’s Office he attained certifications as New York State General Topics Instructor, Federal Bureau of Investigations Certified Firearms Instructor, New York State Firearms Instructor, FBI Certified Sniper/ Observer, Chemical Agents Instructor. In addition, he received certifications by the NYS Commission of Corrections as an instructor for numerous specialty topics.
