Recovering from disasters can be a long process for both individuals and local governments. Often a federal disaster declaration is required in order receive state or federal assistance.
Individual Assistance is assistance designed to help individuals after a disaster or other major emergency.
Individuals needing assistance with housing, counseling and other legal services should first contact their Village, Town or City government to see what assistance can be found locally.
The Orange County Department of Social Services may provide some services after disasters. To contact the Department of Social Services please dial 845-291-4000.
During federally declared disasters, assistance from Federal Government may be available.
