The Orange County Department of Social Services provides temporary help to eligible individuals and families with social service and financial needs in order to assist them with leading safe, healthy and independent lives.
Social Services initiatives and programs are administered under the direction of State and Federal Laws, Regulations and Mandates (Ref. Title 18 of the Codes, Rules and Regulations of the State of New York and Social Services Law, Chapter 55).
Summer Food Service Program (SFSP):
Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), a program administered by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) that offers the opportunity for low-income children 18 years of age and younger, as well as disabled young adults over age 18 enrolled in school programs for persons with disabilities, to receive free, nutritious meals during the summer months when schools are not in session.
