Gang Task Force

In 2001 District Attorney Phillips formed the Orange County Gang Task Force.  The task force is responsible for both criminal investigations of gangs and public education programs to provide gang awareness training.  The enforcement component is comprised of local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who work with the District Attorney’s staff to investigate and prosecute gang activity.  In 2004 this resulted in a major prosecution of the infamous BBK street gang.

The District Attorney also provides Gang Awareness Training Programs for schools, parents groups, service providers, and other governmental agencies.  Training is available upon written request.  The training will enable attendees to recognize and better understand gangs.  Options to address the problems that gangs bring to communities, schools, and neighborhoods will be provided.
