01-12-09 Orange Welcomes New Federal Courthouse
Orange County Executive Edward Diana, Congressman Maurice Hinchey, the Honorable Martin Goldberg, United States Magistrate and local officials were on hand to welcome the new federal courthouse to the City of Middletown.
“I would like to thank Congressman Hinchey for his earnest labor along with our Senators Schumer and Clinton in bringing this project to fruition,” Diana said. “This is a great day for the City of Middletown and our entire County.”
Diana also recognized the hard work of former Senators Alphonse D’Amato, Patrick Moynihan, US Judge Charles Brieant and especially Congressman Benjamin A. Gilman who spearheaded the project prior to his retirement from the US Congress. The District Court is located at 25 South Street Middletown and currently houses the United States Magistrate Judge, United States Marshals Service and the United States Probation Office.
